After a decade on Juan Tabo, Perea's New Mexican Restaurant is moving and expanding.

Italian eatery Lo Stivale closed last year, vacating a large chunk of space at the Eubank Plaza West, 1435 Eubank NE near Constitution. So Perea's plans to relocate from its current 2,200 square feet at 1405 Juan Tabo NE to Eubank, opening in the new spot April 1 (no foolin'). The restaurant employs 14.

"There are higher traffic counts here, and we've got a strong mix of service-oriented tenants," said Brian Anderson, vice president of property management for Roger Cox & Associates Inc., center manager and leasing agent. "This is a good move for them."

Perea's owner Dominic Chacon signed a five-year lease for 3,500 square feet (the remaining 1,300 square feet of former Lo Stivale is for lease). Center rates are $8.35 a square foot.

With only one space available, shopping center tenants include The Albuquerque Hobby Co., Prairie Dog grooming, Millennium full-service salon and Personal Credit Plan Inc.

"We've got a whole cross-section," Anderson said. …
