Albuquerque's Terri Conn busy with upcoming wedding, Daytime Emmy nomination

Terri gets nominated for a Daytime Emmy, just months before her wedding to Artie. That makes her dad feel better about her dropping out of college. Her mom is thrilled, but nervous about planning the wedding. Terri, meanwhile, has to decide which clips to submit to the Emmy judges. And Artie? He is desperately looking for green chile in New York City, so he can make her some posole.

Terri Conn's life doesn't really resemble a soap opera. That's because any drama in it has always been the good kind. Well, except for that dropping out of college thing, which her dad, an Air Force Academy graduate, has finally stopped thinking about so much. But Terri does play a drama queen on a soap opera. She's that bitchy Katie Peretti Frasier on "As the World Turns." And yes, Terri, who grew up in Albuquerque, just got a Daytime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Younger Actress in a Drama Series.

On Monday, April 2, the series turns 45 years old, having just been named "Best Show" of 2000 by Soap Opera Digest. Over those years, the show has functioned as a launching pad for some of Hollywood's best-known film stars.

And Terri, 26, hopes to take a similar flight. "I've done my research," she says, rattling off a list of stars who played on the series. "I know whose steps I want to follow. A mixture of Meg Ryan and Julianne Moore would be perfect. …
