Several Roads To Be Closed for Launch
Five missiles will criss-cross in the sky above White Sands Missile Range early Saturday in a complex test of the Army's new Patriot interceptor missile.
The test will require some road closures and evacuations in western New Mexico.
The Army will fire a ballistic target missile, called a Hera, from Fort Wingate near Gallup. The missile will drop boosters over a closed-off area, fly to the edge of space and then fall back toward White Sands.
On the range, the Army will fire a second target ballistic missile. Then it will fire three interceptors in an attempt to shoot down the two targets. …
