New Copper Tree Gallery in Corrales also includes owner Greg Gowen's workshop, allowing visitors' to watch him sculpt

For sculptor Greg Gowen his new Copper Tree Gallery and studio in Corrales is the fulfillment of a long-time dream.

Gowen, who works in both abstract and representational styles, will showcase his own contemporary Western-style brass, copper and sheet bronze sculptures in the remodeled 2,400-square foot building.

The building has been equally divided between gallery and studio space. Plans include a large window between the gallery and studio to allow visitors to watch Gowen creating his metal work.

Gowen also is opening the gallery to a range of other artists.

"I've had the privilege of working and showing with some of the top artists in the country and I've managed to get a select group from Colorado, Utah, Arizona and California to show with me," Gowen said this week.

He said a few local artists will also be exhibited including Albuquerque artist Nina Rose Chavez, a second generation metal worker who creates contemporary brushed steel tables with glass tops, and Santa Fe artist Joseph Kosky's mixed-media fountain sculptures.

Chavez's father George Chavez owns the Little Iron House where he makes functional and decorative wrought-iron works. …
