Public Comment Invited at Charter Hearing.

East Mountains residents can voice their concerns about the new government charter being developed by Bernalillo County's Urban County Charter Commission at a public hearing scheduled for Saturday.
The hearing is scheduled for 10 a.m. in the city-county chambers in Downtown Albuquerque.
The Urban County Charter Commission is charged with developing a framework for a new Bernalillo County government with home-rule powers. As an "urban" or home-rule government, the county can enlarge the Bernalillo County Commission and appoint officials such as the clerk, treasurer and sheriff.
So far, the UCCC has decided to have a commission-manager form of government where elected officials would serve four-year terms. …
