Plan Contingent On Development OK

The Edgewood Town Council is considering a request to annex more than 12,000 acres of the Campbell Ranch property that extends from N.M. 14 in Bernalillo County to N.M. 344 in Santa Fe County.

Representatives from Campbell Farming Corp., which owns the property, were at Edgewood's council meeting on March 21 to pitch a proposal for the town to annex the property and accept the company's master plan for the area. That plan calls for more than 4,000 homes and businesses close to N.M. 14 and Frost Road on 8,000 acres of the land.

The 12,000 acres proposed for annexation stretch from west of N.M. 14 to N.M. 344 and encompass much of the southern San Pedro Mountains in Santa Fe, Sandoval and Bernalillo counties. The southernmost edge of the property is more than four miles from Edgewood's current northern boundary, although the proposed Campbell Ranch master planned community is more than 20 miles from Edgewood's current municipal offices. …
