Since this high school baseball season began about a month ago, the Los Lunas Tigers have been wanting to make a statement to those outside of Valencia County that they would be heard from in other quadrants of New Mexico.

After five hours under a grueling sun on Saturday, the Tigers may finally have made their point.

Los Lunas picked up what were certainly its two most important victories of the season and perhaps the past several years in a 4-2, 4-3 doubleheader sweep of visiting Las Cruces.
