City Raises Rates at Financially Shaky Course.

City lawmakers bumped up playing rates at Santa Fe's public golf course by a few dollars Wednesday despite no assurance from officials that the increase will bring financial stability to the course.

The City Council unanimously approved the rate increases, as well as an additional $175 fee for all organized sports teams using city parks.

Administrators, at the direction of councilors, are trying to ward off any use of general fund monies to subsidize the financially limping Municipal Recreation Complex, which includes the course. Earlier this year, the 3-year-old complex projected a $650,000 budget deficit; officials recently have said the deficit could be more severe. …
