Taos Officials Will Urge Governor To Sign Tax Bill.

Officials from Taos, McKinley and other counties will be in Santa Fe today to urge Gov. Gary Johnson to approve legislation allowing municipalities and counties to impose gross-receipts taxes of up to a quarter-cent for capital outlay projects.

The measure would require voters to approve any such tax.

The bill passed the state House and Senate during the recent legislative session and is awaiting Johnson's signature. The governor has until April 6 to decide.

The Taos contingent will include county commissioners Rebecca Parraz, Gabriel Romero and Virgil Martinez and County Manager Robert Dale Morrison and County Attorney Mary Lane Leslie. …
