APD Helps City Win Sleep Award.(Metropolitan)


The Duke City got a new claim to fame Tuesday "Healthy Sleep Capital of the Nation."

The recognition was bestowed Tuesday in Washington, D.C., by the National Sleep Foundation for efforts by the Albuquerque Police Department to reduce sleep deprivation among officers.

In 1998, the department launched a program to study how lack of sleep affects performance. As a result, the maximum number of hours officers can work in a week was capped at 60. …
