UNM's women's basketball team sells out the Pit for tonight's WNIT final

Lobo Women's Basketball fever! Catch it! Apparently, much of New Mexico has. Mark Koson, associate athletics director for the University of New Mexico ticket office, said Tuesday tonight's Women's National Invitation Tournament championship game is the third-quickest sellout in Pit history.

"The other two were the Chicago Bulls (with Michael Jordan) and Elton John. That's pretty good company," Koson said. "I can guarantee this will be the loudest crowd."

Alberta Hunt, 41, was one of thousands who went to the ticket office Tuesday.

"They said I got one of the last two seats together," said Hunt, who plans to attend the game with her husband.

The Lobos women, who will face Ohio State of the Big Ten conference, will be trying for the school's first-ever team national championship in any sport.

The quest for the WNIT crown has only heightened the excitement surrounding UNM women's basketball. …
