Poster Contest Draws In 200 Participants

Now in its third year, the Native American Youth Language Fair, Poster Contest and Intertribal Powwow has grown beyond its base in New Mexico.

Entries for next month's poster contest have been received from as far away as South Carolina. Other entries came from tribes in New Mexico, Oklahoma and Arizona.

More than 85 children have signed up to take part in the Santa Fe language fair, and another 200 are participating in the poster contest. Many of those also will be taking part in the powwow.

Actor Wes Studi, a member of the Cherokee tribe and an actor in such films as "Last of the Mohicans" and "Dances with Wolves," will be the emcee. …
