Angels' Scioscia, Roenicke, Hatcher say days in Albuquerque prepared them to guide big-leaguers

TEMPE, Ariz. As Anaheim Angels manager Mike Scioscia stands in his dugout pondering a decision he has to make this baseball season, he'll depend on his experience as a player and manager.

Many of those experiences happened in Albuquerque.

When an Angels baserunner is rounding second and Angels third-base coach Ron Roenicke has to make the split-second decision on whether to send him or hold him at third, he'll depend on the instincts he developed as a player, coach and manager.

Many of those instincts were developed in Albuquerque.

Angels hitting coach Mickey Hatcher will be given the job of working with any batter in a slump this season, with the expectations he'll get the batter back in his groove. …
