* Researchers say socioeconomic factors don't explain differences in when prostate disease is diagnosed

African-American men are twice as likely as Anglos to be diagnosed with prostate cancer in its advanced stages but no one is sure why their cancer isn't spotted sooner.

Socioeconomic differences the level of education and whether someone had health insurance did not provide the full answer in a study conducted by Richard Hoffman, a physician in internal medicine with the VA Health Care System in Albuquerque, and other colleagues.
