Retired Journalist Was 'Versatile'.(Obituary)

Award-winning journalist Wilson Cliff, a longtime Albuquerque Journal editor and writer, interviewed a number of celebrities in his career, including a future president, Harry Truman.

Cliff, who co-founded the Estancia Valley Citizen, died Wednesday at Presbyterian Hospital. He was hospitalized about a month with complications from a heart ailment. Cliff, of Rio Rancho, was 85.

A Masonic memorial service will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Temple Lodge No. 6, 3801 Osuna NE.

Cliff, who joined the Journal in 1954, was a copy editor, assistant city editor, business editor, state editor and editorial writer during his 26-year career in Albuquerque.

"Wilson was a versatile newsman and an excellent wordsmith," said former Journal editor Gerald Crawford, who worked with Cliff for a number of years. …
