Standardized Test Results Examined

Most of the 14 schools in the Espanola Public Schools district ranked well below average for student achievement on standardized tests, according to a 1999-2000 state report card.

Improving student achievement has been a major goal of both the Espanola school board and Superintendent Wilfred Martinez, who has held the top administrative post for 10 months.

About 4,900 students attended school in the district from preschool through high school during the school year.

All 89 public school districts in New Mexico must compile a report card each year showing district scores on standardized tests and in other areas. …
