NEA Chief Announces $918,000 in Grants.

A Republican presidency does not signal bad news for the National Endowment for the Arts, NEA Chairman Bill Ivey told an audience of arts administrators gathered Friday at the Wheelwright Museum of the American Indian.

A folklorist, musician and former director of the Country Music Hall of Fame in Nashville, Tenn., Ivey visited Santa Fe to announce $918,000 worth of new grants in New Mexico.

Spirits are running high at the NEA after last year's $7 million budget increase, the first since 1992. Ivey said the increase translates into an extra $50,000 in grants for each state, including New Mexico.
