'Lady' Debate Intensifies.

Museum To Hear Views on Collage

Critics and defenders of "Our Lady," the bikini-clad version of the revered Virgin of Guadalupe on display at the state Museum of International Folk Art, have been granted an audience before the Museum of New Mexico Board of Regents.

Cries of "Viva Guadalupe" rang out Friday morning from a crowd of about 30 protesters who gathered outside state offices in downtown Santa Fe to denounce the artwork created by California artist Alma Lopez. Protesters carried a picket sign declaring, "Repent, Mary is a Loving Mother."

"I don't like to see my mother trampled on," said Richard Cordova of Albuquerque. …
