Club Seeking To Get Into WPHL's Playoffs

The New Mexico Scorpions' drive for the playoffs has moved from the ice hockey rinks to the courtrooms.

In separate motions filed in state District Court in Bernalillo County, the Scorpions' players and the franchise, owned by Albuquerque chiropractor Michael Plaman, are seeking a temporary restraining orders against the Western Professional Hockey League.

A week ago, the Scorpions, leading the Western Division and looking ahead to the postseason and a run at the WPHL championship, were docked 34 points and fined $50,000 for alleged salary cap violations. The points loss plunged them into last place. …
