Character drifts in and out of reality

Actor Shenoah Allen's first encounter with Canadian playwright Daniel MacIvor turned out to be a bit strange.

His first encounter with MacIvor's one-man play, "House," will likely be even stranger, for him and the audience.

Allen met MacIvor in a Toronto bar last summer while touring a production of "Sabotage," with comedy improv partner Mark Chavez.

"I was trying to get him to come and see 'Sabotage.' Everybody was telling me that he was somebody that could help me out, somebody that I should know.

"He said, 'Normally, I don't go see theater because I'm always disappointed. …
