Livestock Workshops Offered.

New Mexico State University's Cooperative Extension Service will offer a free, daylong series of workshops April 1 in Santa Fe on running small livestock operations on as little as an acre or two of land.

"There are hundreds of people with limited acreage in the north, and although their plots are tiny, they're ideal for a small livestock program," said Del Jimenez, agriculture specialist with NMSU's Rural Agricultural Improvement and Public Affairs Project, based in Alcalde. "A lot of these landowners want to learn how to raise farm animals, so we plan to explain the basics to them and hopefully get more people interested in putting their land to agricultural use, whether it be for commercial purposes or their own consumption. …
