Track Tigers, Eagle Qualify.(Sports)

Three more Los Lunas Tigers qualified at the Alamogordo Invitational over the weekend for the state track meet, and Monica Maldonado became the first to qualify for the Belen Eagles.

Chris Potter's 10.8 in the 100 meters was good enough only for third place in Alamogordo, but it was fast enough to guarantee Potter a spot in the event at state.

Ruben Trujillo joined Chris Ahlgrim as a qualifier in the javelin, with a throw of 183 feet, 7 inches. Trujillo finished second behind Ahlgrim, who threw an impressive 210-2, a new school record.

"Potter ran a nice race, and Ruben threw 183-7, which is probably the third-best throw that I've seen," said Tigers head coach Ken Noel. …
