Pastor Worked With Oklahoma Bombing Victims.(Religion)

The Rev. Larry Hitchens became pastor at an Oklahoma City church in 1996 exactly a year after a terrorist bombing of the federal building killed 166 people.

A police chaplain for several decades, Hitchens was one of about 30 volunteer clergy who worked with victims during the trial of Timothy McVeigh.

"Just the magnitude of it was just incredible," said Hitchens, recalling his crisis intervention work and counseling.

Hitchens left Oklahoma City's Central Presbyterian Church earlier this year to become pastor at Rio Rancho Presbyterian Church.

He took over Feb. 1 for the Rev. Bob Clary, interim pastor for about 18 months.

Hitchens, 53, is the second full-time pastor at the church, which was founded in 1986. …
