Spring not only brings budding trees and blooming flowers but, for many people, the onset of seasonal allergies or hay fever.

Seasonal allergic rhinitis, commonly known as hay fever, affects about 35 million Americans. The symptoms of hay fever are caused by breathing in substances called allergens, such as pollen or mold spores. People who are sensitive to allergens can experience an allergic reaction, causing the symptoms of hay fever. Hay fever symptoms can include sneezing, congestion, runny nose, watery eyes and itching in the nose, eyes, ears, throat and/or roof of the mouth.

The Bernalillo County Environmental Health Department offers the following tips to help reduce exposure to allergens this season and reduce hay fever symptoms. …
