Beautification Idea Good for Moriarty.(Opinion)

EDITORIALS

Moriarty city officials have accomplished a great deal in the last few years, but they're not done yet.

The city has made improvements to its municipal water system and waste-water treatment plant, built new youth baseball fields and started on youth soccer fields. It also has broken ground on a new civic center that will provide a much-needed venue for a variety of community events.

City officials now want to turn their attention to the aesthetic side of town.

Historic Route 66 through Moriarty's primary commercial district has long left something to be desired in terms of attractiveness. Although the main drag is a wide boulevard, many residents feel it evokes thoughts of a roadside outpost along the freeway more than the heart and soul of a vital, friendly small town. …
