Negotiations Begin For Edgewood Water

The owner of Edgewood Water Inc. is negotiating to sell the utility to a company that owns 27 water utilities around the country.

Raymond Dennis, owner of Edgewood Water, said last week that New Mexico-American Water Co., headquartered in Clovis, wants to buy the system. Edgewood Water serves more than 1,800 residential and commercial water customers in Edgewood.

Dennis had entered into an agreement last year to sell the water company to Auric Management of Albuquerque, he said. But Auric's president died in October, leaving the deal up in the air.

"It kind of put a wrinkle in things," Dennis said. …
