Moriarty Sewage Plant a Winner.

When Mike Tapia, the head of Moriarty's water and waste-water department, doesn't hear from his customers, he figures his four-person crew is doing a good job.

Last year the phones weren't exactly ringing off the hook.

The Moriarty Wastewater Treatment Plant has been named the top plant in the state by the New Mexico Rural Water Association, a nonprofit organization that provides technical and governmental assistance to its members.

"We've got a good crew out here, and they deserve the recognition," Tapia said.

The water association presented a plaque to Tapia during a banquet in Albuquerque on Tuesday. …
