WORLD WAR II VETERAN

Ed Lingo, a Bataan Death March survivor, was known in Albuquerque for his courage and caring.

Lingo died on Feb. 23, 10 days before his 89th birthday, of several causes, including pneumonia, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

Services were held March 1 at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, followed by burial at Santa Fe National Cemetery.

Longtime friend Mike Michnovicz said Lingo was "a very understanding and kind fellow" who courageously faced a number of challenges in his life.

During World War II, Michnovicz said Lingo was a Japanese prisoner more than three years. …
