It used to be that if a child had "ants in his pants," he was hyperactive.

Now, said national expert Zena Oglesby Jr., these kids are referred to as having ADD or ADHD attention deficit disorder or attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder. These labels make the child's condition sound worse than it is and deter potential foster or adoptive parents from getting involved, said Oglesby, a former social worker and expert in recruiting and retaining foster and adoptive parents.
