*Lab physicist takes sixth in men's epee at national tournament

A computational physicist from Los Alamos took sixth place in Division III men's epee competition at the North American Cup fencing tournament last weekend in Overland Park, Kansas.

Tom Hill, 58, of the Los Alamos Fencing Club placed highest of any New Mexican fencer in 10 events at the three-day tournament, which drew participants from across the country. Hill competed in three events in all; 95 people competed in Division III men's epee.

Arlene L. Ory of Pojoaque became a finalist in women's veteran sabre by winning a direct elimination bout. She took home a medal. …
