Board Lets School-Site Homes Stay.

Four police officers and five school district employees and their families will be allowed to continue to live in mobile homes on schools sites, the Santa Fe Public Schools board of education decided Tuesday.

Jim Butler, a district plumber, received letters early this year from district Chief Operations Officer Ruben Mirabal telling him to remove his mobile home from Turquoise Trail Elementary School property no later than June 30. The other received similar letters.

On Tuesday, Superintendent Veronica C. Garcia said new letters would be mailed to people living on campuses and new contracts drafted.

Years ago, the district established contracts with employees to provide alarm response at school sites in return for rent-free mobile home sites. …
