House Speaker To Urge Partial OK

Gov. Gary Johnson on Tuesday showed no signs of backing down from his threatened vetoes of $259 million in "pork barrel" projects and what he called an inadequate tax relief package.

"My intention is to veto the whole capital outlay and all its provisions," Johnson told reporters after he spoke in Albuquerque to the Association of Commerce and Industry. "It's some economic medicine that the Legislature is going to have to swallow."

Johnson has until April 6 to act on measures passed by the Legislature in the final days of the 60-day session, which ended Saturday at noon. …
