N.M. Green Party To Convene at UNM.


A Native American panel and a Native Roots concert will be part of the Green Party of New Mexico's convention Saturday and Sunday at the University of New Mexico.

The convention starts at 8 a.m. both days and will include election of state officers, approval of resolutions, platform amendments and by-law changes.

The native panel is scheduled from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday in the Kiva Auditorium on the UNM campus, near the College of Education.

Panelists including Gwen Packard, executive director of Morning Star, Frank Chaves, chairman of the New Mexico Indian Gaming Commission, and a tribal court judge will address issues of Indian sovereignty, health, education, housing, women's concerns and economic development. …
