Oil, Nonprofit Firms Make Hires

Former New Mexico Congressman Bill Richardson recently departed as the Energy Secretary has joined the boards of two Texas-based oil companies and of nonprofit groups in Washington and Santa Fe.

The board appointments add new responsibilities for Richardson on top of teaching duties at Harvard University and the United World College of the American West outside Las Vegas, N.M.

During President Clinton's second four-year term, which ended in January, Richardson served as secretary of the Department of Energy after a stint as ambassador to the United Nations.

At Santa Fe, the Spanish Colonial Arts Society elected Richardson last week to its board of directors, citing his political and business connections as influential assets. …
