* Dispute over cell-phone spire heats up at San Miguel County Commission hearings

LAS VEGAS, N.M. Neighborly connections among residents of a rural community near Pecos continued to unravel Monday during a San Miguel County Commission hearing over a controversial cell-phone tower.

Isidro Martinez, owner of the land where SBA Towers Inc. placed its 240-foot tower, said his neighbors should direct their energies toward solving the community's problems with trash and polluted water rather than trying to move the tower and its blinking lights.

"Our health is more important than our eyes, what we can see," Martinez told the commission.

Resa Cisneros, a registered nurse and owner of a home within 400 feet of the tower's base, said she wants to sell her home and move to a more remote area, but two prospective buyers have walked away because of the proximity of the tower. …
