* City council approves a 30-year proposal to guide development of former Indian

City councilors on Monday took a step toward resolving the fate of the old Albuquerque Indian School campus in the North Valley.

The council approved a 30-year agreement that would guide development at the 44-acre site on Menaul NW. It was adopted 7-2, with councilors Hess Yntema and Michael Brasher voting against it.

More negotiation over what to do at the vacant campus may lie ahead.

The city soon will offer the proposal to a development corporation that represents New Mexico's 19 pueblos. The U.S. Interior Department and the pueblos would need to sign off on the agreement for it to take effect. …
