"Five Women Wearing the Same Dress" may be the most awkward title I've heard in a while, but it's a hell of a funny play.

Alan Ball's comedy at the Adobe Theater is the story of five bridesmaids taking a break during a wedding reception in Knoxville, Tenn.

Now Knoxville isn't way down south, but it's Southern. Southern women are a breed unto themselves, and these five are no exception.

Frances (Hilary Real) is a rather shy committed Christian; Meredith (Jill Weinshenker) is the bride's prickly little sister, happiest in a motorcycle jacket; Erin K. Moots is Trisha, a friend of the bride who's been around the block; Georgeanne (Lori Neitzel) is paying the price for a loveless marriage; and Mindy (Lacey Bingham) is a lesbian and charm school graduate. …
