If your children are uninsured and you think you make too much money to qualify for assistance, think again.

A family of four can make up to $41,478 a year and still qualify for free or low-cost health care coverage through New Mexikids. Once enrolled, a child remains in the program for up to a year even if family income changes.

The program provides for regular check-ups, doctor and dental visits, hospital care, hearing and vision exams, prescriptions and glasses. Most children under 19 are covered, including those with working parents, homeless children and teens. Even children who are covered by health insurance can get help through New Mexikids under certain circumstances, such as divorce. …
