Fed Funds To Be Used on Runways

The Santa Fe Municipal Airport received $1 million in federal funds Thursday, money that will be used for runway improvements and other airport upgrades.

Rep. Tom Udall, D-New Mexico, announced in a press release Thursday the money will be given to "allow the airport to make needed improvements that will help it expand and improve service for travelers."

The grant is an annual occurrence, airport manager Jim Montman said.

"Basically, all we have to do is ask for it," he said of getting the federal money.

The money will be used to seal cracks on four of the airport's runways, add additional runway lights and install more fencing. …
