Dozens Attend Tijeras Meeting

Two elected officials joined dozens of East Mountains residents in speaking out in opposition to the proposed charter that would unify Bernalillo County and Albuquerque governments.

Bernalillo County Clerk Mary Herrera and state House Minority Leader Ted Hobbs, R-Albuquerque, told residents they oppose the charter and are disappointed in the Unification Charter Commission.

Herrera and Hobbs met July 2 at Los Vecinos Community Center in Tijeras with a couple of dozen East Mountains residents who represented several neighborhood associations.

Hobbs and Herrera were joined by Bernalillo County Commissioner Michael Brasher at the meeting sponsored by the East Mountain Area Association. …
