Technology companies have received their fair share of lumps in the past year, thanks to the massive business contraction most tech firms continue to struggle with as 2003 rolls into its second half.

But the companies making up the New Mexico Flying 40 in 2002, New Mexico's largest and fastest growing tech companies, haven't lost any luster, says Sherman McCorkle, president of Technology Ventures Corp. in Albuquerque.

In fact, McCorkle makes a case that the companies making up the Flying 40 for 2002 are case examples of how technology continues to represent economic power of the future.

"In the last 102 years, there's only been three times the (stock) market has been off three years in a row -- this recession now is the third time," McCorkle says. …
