In the warmer parts of the state, high summer crops are beginning to come in. The Watson family that farms near Las Cruces has been bringing crops to Albuquerque-area markets for the past two years. This weekend they will have early sweet corn at the Albuquerque Growers' Market and the Downtown Albuquerque market.

Growers in the Silver City area have hot peppers ready (jalapeno, Fresno, Serrano and cayenne), as well as tomatoes and onions -- so customers can buy all the ingredients for fresh salsa. The Silver City market is offering all types of summer squash, including the old standby, zucchini, in many colors, as well as patty pan, yellow crookneck and straightneck. If you've never been to Silver City, go down on a weekend and visit the charming Saturday morning farmers' market, tucked into a little side street and park right in the middle of the old downtown. …
