George Fettinger

George Fettinger was a skillful legislative leader, an honored Alamogordo resident and a respected attorney who twice argued cases before the U.S. Supreme Court.

He died Thursday at his Alamogordo home after a lengthy illness. Fettinger was 74.

Funeral services will be held at 10 this morning at Bethel Baptist Church.

Fettinger, who was first elected to the state House of Representatives in 1964, was chairman of the judiciary committee during his 20 years in government. He also was Democratic Party state chairman in the mid-1980s.
