Locals do better than the market.(Business Outlook)

Share prices of almost all of New Mexico's publicly traded companies rose, and in some cases rose significantly, in the quarter that ended June 30.

And four larger New Mexico-based companies out-performed two of the major stock market indexes in the quarter.

First State Bancorporation was up 28 percent, closing at $27.40 a share by quarter's end. SBS Technologies was up 35 percent to $9.79. Thornburg Mortgage Inc. closed 20 percent higher, at $24.70. PNM Resources finished the quarter at $26.75, 19 percent higher.

The S&P 500 stock index rose 14.9 percent in the same period, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average finished the quarter up 14. …
