"In recognition of the fact that a representative government is dependent upon an informed electorate, it is declared to be public policy of this state that all persons are entitled to the greatest possible information regarding the affairs of government and the official acts of those officers and employees who represent them." -- The New Mexico Open Meetings Act

If a government body is committed to the principle of an informed electorate, it's pretty simple to follow the state's Open Meetings Act.

But in an April 22 session, the Public Regulation Commission violated that Act -- three times. Surprisingly, the majority wasn't acting on some explosive issue it wanted hidden from public view. …
