* McIntosh Fire Department provided tanker truck, other help to Albuquerque

Members of the McIntosh Volunteer Fire Department are proud of their little red tanker, which chugged its way into Albuquerque to help fight last week's bosque fires.

"It felt great for us to be able to help," assistant chief Elvis Draughon said Tuesday.

Torrance County has had a mutual aid agreement with the Albuquerque Fire Department for about a year. It allows Torrance County fire departments to provide support to AFD during large fires.

Torrance County Fire Marshal Shirley Whatley said McIntosh was not the only area fire department to respond to the bosque fires. …
