1000 Friends To Focus On State as a Whole

1000 Friends of New Mexico has turned to someone with a rural background to help lead the "smart growth" advocacy organization.

Randolph "Dolph" Barnhouse, 46, recently was named executive director of the nearly 8-year-old group.

He most recently was practicing law in Gallup and previously served as executive director of DNA-People's Legal Services in Window Rock, Ariz.

"I was out there 12 years and want to keep my focus really at a statewide level and more so than some of my predecessors have," Barnhouse said.

"It's real easy once you get to Albuquerque to get wrapped up in the Albuquerque issues. …
