* McIntosh's firetruck may be slow, but it carried a lot of water to the bosque fires in Albuquerque recently

Members of the McIntosh Volunteer Fire Department are proud of their little red tanker, which chugged its way into Albuquerque to help fight last week's fires along the Rio Grande bosque.

"It felt great for us to be able to help," assistant chief Elvis Draughon said Tuesday.

Torrance County has had a mutual aid agreement with the Albuquerque Fire Department for about a year. The agreement allows Torrance County fire departments to provide support to AFD during large fires.

Torrance County Fire Marshal Shirley Whatley said McIntosh was not the only fire department from the area to respond to the bosque fires. …
