Once Suspected In Torreon Slayings

A one-time suspect in the 1995 Torreon cabin quadruple slayings was in custody Tuesday, charged in connection with the weekend robbery of a handicapped man, jail officials said.

Shaun Wilkins was arrested Sunday night and booked into the Metropolitan Detention Center about 11 a.m. Monday, according to jail records. Bond was set at $35,000.

Wilkins, 26, faces charges including felony armed robbery and use of a firearm during a crime.

According to a criminal complaint filed in Metropolitan Court on Tuesday, Ike Candelaria told police Wilkins hit him in the head with the barrel of an AK-47-type rifle while the two were in the parking lot of an apartment complex at 8010 Zuni SE. …
