Ex-UNM Official On Economy Board

Larry Willard, longtime regent of the University of New Mexico, resigned the post Tuesday to head a nonprofit corporation intended to lure businesses to the state.

Gov. Bill Richardson announced Willard's appointment Tuesday as chairman of the newly formed New Mexico Economic Development Corp.

The corporation's role is to market New Mexico and encourage companies to relocate here, Richardson's office said.

Willard was first appointed as a regent in 1995. He served as the board's president for six years. He is president and CEO of Wells Fargo Bank of New Mexico. …
